Darwin Cervantes
Darwin Cervantes is a visual design clinician and music educator, and the director and owner of The Winning Step. He hosts The Winning Step Marching and Visual Camp annually during the summer where students all around San Diego can come meet other students and learn/review the fundamentals together. He has worked at 3 high schools in the San Diego County: Eastlake High School, Point Loma High School, and Castle Park High School, in which he has served as the Visual Caption Head during the 2024 marching season. He is currently a Visual Technician for Indoor season at Borderline Percussion, an SCPA Independent A-Class group. He has been teaching in the visual caption for three years and is going onto his fourth year. He is able to offer visual design for marching band shows and aid in musical/visual performance on the field during rehearsals. He also leads stretching/visual warmup during the beginning of rehearsals as well as competition days, and boosts student morale and motivation. He is currently a 3rd year undergraduate student at UC San Diego, working towards a Bachelor of Science in both Developmental Psychology and Education Sciences. In his free time, he plays with the Cuyamaca College Concert Band and Cuyamaca College Wind Ensemble on his main instrument, Bari Sax. He plans on getting his Masters Degree in Music Education and credential to become a band director.
